General Eligibility and Selection Procedure
Interested candidates should have a qualified master's degree in any branch of life sciences and cleared the NET (JRF) examination conducted by CSIR-UGC/ICMR/DBT. ICMR-NIMR is recognized, through an agreement, as an Affiliate Centre of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR, http://acsir.res.in/), an Institute of National Importance (INI) through an Act of the Parliament, the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research Act, 2011, . The Degrees will be awarded by AcSIR.
Course Fee, Laboratory & Other Facilities
There is no course fee that will be collected by the Institute for the Ph.D.Program. However, fees to be levied by the concerned University where the candidate will be registered for Ph.D. degree, therefore, Ph.D. registration/course fees are to be borne by the candidate. The selected students will be allocated to a scientist and be permitted to use the laboratory and other facilities for research work needed for the fulfillment of the Program. They are bound by rules and regulations as in place at ICMR-NIMR from time to time.
General Guidelines
At present, there is no housing facility at ICMR-NIMR to host the students. Selected students have to make their own arrangements for accommodation. No TA/DA will be paid to the short-listed candidates for attending personal discussions at ICMR-NIMR. Ph.D. students with NET (JRF) qualification will be allowed to receive fellowships, house rent allowances and contingent grants as per rules and regulations of the funding agencies.
